By Chartered Bus

By bus or car - which is best? Wilvaken offers charter bus transportation for all sessions except the mid-July departure/arrival days. Coming to camp by bus is a wonderful way for your child to start their experience at camp. On the bus s/he will get to know some of the other campers and a staff member. It is the best way to send your child, especially if you think s/he may be a bit homesick at first.

When bringing your child to the bus, please have on hand his or her medicare card, medications, passport, payment and any other information that you think may be needed by the camp. All these things should be given to the staff member who is at the bus. Please make sure to put everything in a baggy or envelope with the name of the camper on it.

When the bus arrives at camp, the children will be met by their counsellor who will guide them to their cabin and help them settle in. The bus normally arrives around 11h00.

Wilvaken organizes charter bus transport from the Montréal area on session opening days, returning on closing days. The bus stops are Côte St. Luc shopping centre (corner Côte St. Luc and Coronation) (beside the supermarket), in Montréal, Place PortoBello (Taschereau Blvd). – (under the big sign) on the south shore. A charge for this service is made to the deposit on personal expenses or pre-paid on your May billing. Please indicate on your registration form if you wish to use this service, and whether from Montréal or the south shore. There is a counsellor assigned to the bus for all trips.

Please advise us a week before your arrival or departure date if you wish to use the transport service from or to Montreal, but did not so indicate on your registration form (or if you wish to cancel a bus request). Depending on the number of campers requesting the service, we may use either a chartered bus, or the camp van (with trailer for luggage).

Wilvaken is located approximately 150km southeast of Montreal. It normally takes about 1¾ hours to drive from Montréal. During the summer there often is construction so at times you will find yourself in a traffic jam coming over the Champlain Bridge or beyond. If you are from Montreal we strongly encourage you to use our bus transportation. This also is a more environmentally sound approach.
Driving directions to Wilvaken can be found on our contact page.

Arrival Day: Please try to arrive between 09h30 and 11h30. Our staff will be available to guide you to a parking spot, direct you to the cabin, and help you with luggage. You then will be asked to visit the lodge to meet with one of the directors and the nurse. At that time we ask you to hand over your medicare card, medications, payment and any other important papers that we would keep in safekeeping.

Departure Day: Your child will be available to be picked up between 09h30 and 11h30. Due to changes in our departure days in 2012, the pick up time may change. Our staff will be available to guide you to a parking spot, and direct you to your child's cabin. The counsellor will already have given your child his or her medicare card and medication. If there is anything in safekeeping, then please ask for the director and we will give you the papers as requested.
