We serve three good meals a day at camp, as well as afternoon and evening snacks. Meals are all prepared on site by our cooks, who have been with us for several years. We follow the Canada Food Guide suggestions. A dietician checks over the menu periodically.
Meals are served cafeteria style – each cabin group goes to get their plate when it is their turn.
Have a look at our sample menu to give you an idea of what we eat!
Every meal has a vegetarian option if meat is offered. Any special dietary needs or allergies must be indicated on the medical form so that the kitchen can prepare the meals with adequate quantities and proper foods. If your child has very special needs, parents may have to bring supplementary food for the kitchen to prepare.
We would like to inform parents that we are not a nut free camp, but we will not serve any meals that would compromise a child who has allergies during their stay at Wilvaken. We must know of any allergy prior to the child's arrival. An Epi-Pen is always kept in the main lodge where everyone eats their meals.
Fruit is available all day for those campers who need to snack on the off hours. Fresh vegetables are part of our meals as well, once or twice a day. Milk, juice, or water is available during each meal as needed.
We always have seconds available for the main course.
