Camp Clothing

camp clothing

At camp, being comfortable is the most important thing. Pack clothing you don’t mind getting dirty or tie dying! We suggest you download and print our pdf clothing list. It is always a good idea to involve your child in the packing process. If your child knows what he/she is taking to camp, fewer items might get lost!

Also, make sure you send the list to camp so that your child knows what s/he is bringing. It is a good idea to include the list in the pocket of the bag in which you are packing everything.

Please make sure you do not send anything to camp that is not included on the Clothing List. It is not uncommon for expensive items to get lost at camp. Additionally, it can be damaging to the camp experience when other items are sent. Camp is unique in that it is one of the few places where a child can be free of inequities. The more "stuff" that campers have in their possession, the more inequities are present in a cabin group. Please take a look at the items that we ask you to not send to camp so that we can ensure a positive experience for each child.

For campers planning to go on one of our 4 day hiking or canoe trips, please download our pdf tripping list.

Rain Wear

Our outdoor activities do not necessarily come to a complete stop if the weather is less than perfect. We strongly suggest that parents send proper rain wear for their children. For younger campers, a rubberized or vinyl knee-length coat is good. A jacket/pants outfit is preferable for older campers, as this provides better protection and freedom of movement for activities such as sailing, or for hikers or canoe-trippers who may be caught out in the rain. No ponchos. Windbreakers are not waterproof.

Rubber boots are also a must as our paths do get muddy if we get lots of rain.

Refillable Water Bottles

These should be sent with your child or they may purchase a Wilvaken (re-fillable) bottle at camp. There is also a water fountain at the lodge that is available at all times.

The environment is important to us so please do not send disposable bottles to camp.

Dress-up Clothes

Dress-up clothes may be brought to camp for those fun occasions such as theme days, evening programs or dances. We do have a costume room. If anyone has anything they wish to donate or just bring along for their stay at camp, they are welcome to do so.

Clothing Labels

Label all clothing items. We recommend all equipment be labelled (adhesive tape or waterproof marker is best). Never assume that your child will recognize an item, no matter how unique it is! Do not use initials to label the items. Information regarding ordering labels will be sent to you.

Luggage and Storage

Each camper has a large personal drawer into which s/he can unpack on arrival. There is also hanging space available in the cabins (hangers are not provided). Luggage is stored away until departure day. All bags should be labelled with the campers name. We suggest the use of “soft” luggage such as a hockey or dunnage bag, which is more easily stored. No suitcases, boxes, footlockers or Rubbermaid containers please. We do not have room to store those items in the cabins.
